The Effectiveness of Using Blogs as an Independent Learning
Tool to Develop Reading Skills for University Students

Gap:
This research focuses on the use of blog as an independent
learning tool to develop students’ reading skills. The result shows that blog
had significance effect on developing students’ reading skills. However, it’s
important to investigate students’ perception of the effectiveness of using
blog as a tool in promoting their autonomous learning in Reading class.

from Higher Education students
Rationale/Background for the previous study:
Blog has been popular for its effectiveness in promoting students’
learning autonomy. However, yet little attention to investigate students’
voices on using blog as their autonomous learning. The present study aimed at
investigating students’ perception on the advantages and disadvantages of using
blog in extensive reading class, and their perception on how blog can contribute
to their autonomous learning. The participants of this study are college
students in Extensive Reading Class.

What are the advantages of using blog in
extensive reading class as students’ learning autonomous? What are the
disadvantages of using blog in extensive reading class as students’ learning autonomous?
